Database systems and applications
Web-based genetics database with integrated evaluation toolset

The
Southern Tree Breeder's Association had 60 years worth of data from tree-breeding trials held in a variety of formats. They wanted to make this store of information accessible to their far-flung member organisations. We built a robust web-based data management system integrated with the analysis tool TREEPLAN to enable users to update, analyse and report on tree breeding trials across Australia and manage genetic and phenotypic data.
Online public-access livestock catalogue with genetic ranking

The
Animal Genetics and Breeding Unit wanted to adapt their BreedObject beef sire evaluation software for use on the Internet. We developed
www.BreedObject.com, producing Australia's first online beef-sire/semen sales catalogue ranking by estimated breeding values (EBV) and with custom economic index calculation for online evaluation of relative sire performance.
See a full case study of the BreedObject web project at the Australian Federal Government
Information Economy web site.
Fleet Management system

The
University of New England approached us to develop a replacement system for their aging motor pool fleet management software. The UNE motor pool operates on a full cost-recovery basis, so accurate and timely fleet information is vital to day-to-day running.
Using Microsoft Access we developed a custom fleet management system, providing tracking of vehicle maintenance, fuel usage, and lease arrangements for multiple lease companies and internally owned vehicles.
Web sites
Custom calculator and secure document library

We designed and implemented this site for financial services consultants Growth Plan. The public area includes a custom performance calculator for key indicators. The password-protected secure area provides a document library system for registered clients.
Corporate web site with easily updated information
The ABS Building Society required a new web site to establish their web presence for their banking business. They wanted an accessible site, with easily available information on their highly competitive lending and borrowing rates. Hutchinson Software designed and implemented
www.absbuildingsociety.com.au, focusing on making key information readily available to users of the site, and creating a design that allowed the ABS to keep their rate information always up to date.
Online bookshop and information resource

Last-First Networks approached us to design and implement a replacement for their aging online bookshop, and to provide features to allow them to easily share their extensive database of social and development issue information with visitors. Their linked sites (last-first.net and smallworld.net) are key providers of information and materials to the socially-aware development community globally.
